The Factory and his artists
“The Factory” is situated in the heart of the Belgium Ardennes nearby Vielsalm and Houffalize. The owners Hans and Kris bought this beautiful farmhouse 20 years ago. The restoration took about the same time and the building was reformed in a contemporary style. The huge barn has been transformed in small factories used for woodturning and ceramic work. In the gallery you will meet an overview of the artistic work. Paintings, ceramic work, and woodwork art are exposed in a harmonious setting.
“Design” is central to Kristien's work as an interior architect. You will find a unique, very pure stamp in her ceramics. The material, clay, is given the upper hand. The natural color, the rough structure and the imperfect shape of the objects stand out in stark contrast to the pursued requirements in contemporary architecture. Thanks to her sober subdued style her works create a soothing element in the space and in this hectic world. Certainly the works demands the attention of the user !!
Hans's work mainly consists of abstract color compositions made on canvas or on wooden panels. The works are closely related to his previous work as a landscape gardener and the impressions of nature and the environment stored thereby. Earthy colors and whimsical structures inspire him in shaping these compositions. In addition to being an autodidact artist, he also practices the craft of woodturner.
Together, both artists form the perfect symbiosis that results in unique artisanal creations in contemporary art.
“The Factory” is gelegen in hartje Ardennen dichtbij Vielsalm en Houffalize. 20 Jaar geleden kochten de eigenaars Hans en Kristien deze prachtige boerderij. De restoratie nam ongeveer dezelfde tijd in beslag waarbij het gebouw een hedendaagse transformatie onderging. De enorme schuur werd omgetoverd in kleine ateliers voor houtbewerking en keramiek. In de galerij vind je een overzicht van de artistieke werken. Schilderijen, keramiek en houtwerk worden op een harmonieuze wijze voorgesteld.
“Vormgeven” staat centraal in het werk van Kristien als interieurarchitect. Ook in haar keramiek vinden we een unieke zeer pure stempel terug. Het materiaal, de klei, krijgt de bovenhand. De natuurlijke kleur, de ruwe structuur en de imperfecte vorm van de objecten staan in schril contrast met de nagestreefde eisen in de hedendaagse architectuur. Door de sobere ingetogen stijl vormen haar werken een rustgevend element in de ruimte en vragen de aandacht van de gebruiker in deze hectische wereld !!
Hans zijn werk bestaat vooral uit abstracte kleurencomposities gemaakt op canvas of op houten panelen. De werken staan in nauw verband met zijn vorig beroep als tuinarchitect en de daarbij opgeslagen impressies van de natuur en de omgeving. Aardse kleuren en grillige structuren inspireren hem bij het vormgeven van deze composities. Naast autodidact kunstenaar beoefent hij ook het ambacht van houtdraaier.
Door de nauwe samenwerking van beide kunstenaars ontstaat een perfecte symbiose van artistieke hedendaagse kunst.
“The Factory” est située au cœur des Ardennes, à proximité de Vielsalm et Houffalize. Il y a 20 ans, les propriétaires Hans et Kristien ont acheté cette belle ferme. La restauration a pris presque le même temps, le bâtiment subissant une transformation contemporaine. L'immense grange a été transformée en petits ateliers de menuiserie et de céramique. Dans la galerie, vous trouverez un aperçu des œuvres artistiques. Peintures, céramiques et boiseries sont présentées de manière harmonieuse.
Le «design» est au cœur du travail de Kristien en tant qu'architecte d'intérieur. On retrouve également un cachet unique, très pur dans ses céramiques. La matière, l'argile, prend le dessus. La couleur naturelle, la structure brute et la forme imparfaite des objets contrastent fortement avec les exigences poursuivies dans l'architecture contemporaine. En raison du style sobre et modeste, ses œuvres forment un élément apaisant dans l'espace et demandent l'attention de l'utilisateur dans ce monde trépidant !!
Le travail de Hans consiste principalement en des compositions abstraites de couleurs réalisées sur toile ou sur panneaux de bois. Les œuvres sont étroitement liées à son ancien métier de paysagiste et aux impressions de la nature et de l'environnement qui y sont stockées. Les couleurs terreuses et les structures fantaisistes l'inspirent lors de la conception de ces compositions. En plus d'être un artiste autodidacte, il pratique également le métier de tourneur sur bois.
L'étroite collaboration des deux artistes crée une symbiose parfaite de l'art contemporain artistique.
